Residents who threw out their food after Hurricane Beryl can restock their fridges with discounted prices at H-E-B and Kroger.
Hurricane Beryl left over 2 million residents without power and forced residents to throw away pounds of spoiled food — many for the second or third time this summer. On top of paying for hotel rooms, hot meals and home repairs, restocking an empty fridge felt like the last straw for some residents.
The Houston Food Bank donated over 3 million pounds of food, and several local organizations distributed food and water after Beryl hit.
